چکیده
In the present study, three different newly developed copolymers of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) with 20, 40, and 60 mol % contents in 3-hydroxyvalerate (3HV) were produced by biotechnological process mixed microbial cultures (MMCs) using cheese whey (CW), a by-product from dairy industry, as feedstock. The CW-derived PHBV copolyesters first purified then processed solution electrospinning, yielding fibers approximately 2 ?m cross-section all cases. resultant electrospun mats were, thereafter, post-processed annealing at temperatures, below their maximum melting, selected according to 3HV content order obtain continuous films based on coalesced fibers, so-called biopapers. characterized terms morphology, crystallinity, mechanical barrier properties assess potential application food packaging. biopapers showed high contact transparency but slightly yellow color. 20 copolymer seen contain mostly poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) crystals, 40 mixture PHB poly(3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHV) crystals lowest sample made PHV crystals. To understand interfiber coalesce undergone materials during annealing, crystalline morphology was also assessed variable-temperature both combined small-angle wide-angle X-ray scattering synchrotron Fourier transform infrared experiments. From these experiments and, previously reported lower contents, samples inferred have surface energy reduction mechanism for coalescence which is thought be activated temperature-induced decrease molecular order. Due reduced crystallinity order, biopapers, especially sample, found more ductile tougher. properties, performed similarly water limonene, oxygen, highest relative permeability. Overall, developed, are compatible Circular Bioeconomy organic recycling strategy, can an excellent interlayers or coatings interest

Microbial degradation of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) in soils.
The microbial degradation of tensile test pieces made of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] or a copolymer of 90% 3-hydroxybutyric acid and 10% 3-hydroxyvaleric acid was studied in soils incubated at a constant temperature of 15, 28, or 40 degrees C for up to 200 days. In addition, hydrolytic degradation in sterile buffer at temperatures ranging from 4 to 55 degrees C was monitored for 98 days. D...
متن کاملGenetic and biochemical characterization of the poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) synthase in Haloferax mediterranei.
The haloarchaeon Haloferax mediterranei has shown promise for the economical production of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), a desirable bioplastic. However, little is known at present about the genes involved in PHBV synthesis in the domain Archaea. In this study, we cloned the gene cluster (phaEC(Hme)) encoding a polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) synthase in H. mediterranei CGMCC ...

The production of the terpolymer poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate), P(3HB-co-3HV-co-4HB), by Alcaligenes sp. A-04 was investigated to determine the superior biodegradable polymer properties over those of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate), P(3HB), and its copolymers. The highest terpolymer content of 68% (w/w) was produced by Alcaligenes sp. A-04 at 60 h by shake-flask cult...

Different genes encoding pyridine nucleotide transhydrogenases (pntAB, udhA) and acetoacetyl-CoA reductases (phaB) were heterologously overexpressed in Rhodospirillum rubrum S1. A recombinant strain, which harbored the gene encoding the membrane-bound transhydrogenase PntAB from Escherichia coli MG1655 and the phaB1 gene coding for an NADPH-dependent acetoacetyl-CoA reductase from Ralstonia eut...
متن کاملEnhancement of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) accumulation in Arxula adeninivorans by stabilization of production
BACKGROUND In recent years the production of biobased biodegradable plastics has been of interest of researchers partly due to the accumulation of non-biodegradable plastics in the environment and to the opportunity for new applications. Commonly investigated are the polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) poly(hydroxybutyrate) and poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyvalerate) (PHB-V). The latter has the advan...
